Welcome baby Ethan
Baby Ethan has arrived, and we are so happy. He is so cute!!!!!!!! He was born on Tuesday, June 24th, which was his due date. He is all ready taking after his dad by never being late. He was born at 11:29 AM. Weighing in at 6 pounds 15.6 ounces and 21 inches long. Labor was really easy.
I think I started having contractions while at work on the 23rd. That evening Jason and I went to dinner, and after dinner I thought I should start timing the contractions. By 2 Am they were about 10 minutes apart. I woke up Jason a told him I think we should head up to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital, and the nurse said they like to see the contractions about 4-5 minutes apart and dilated to about 3.
I was afraid they were going to send me home. They had us walk the floor for about 45 minutes to see if there were any changes. It looked like I was progressing, and they started an IV. The contractions started getting more intense, and then I thought I may want to have an epidural. I wanted to try it without one because I've had bad experiences with spinal taps. They did the epidural about 5 AM, and there was no more pain. I was able to catnap for about the 2-3 hours. It was great.
About 7 AM we started calling family and friends to let them know we were going to have a baby today. Between 10:00 and 10:30 AM the nurse worked with me on pushing, while we waited for the doctor to get out of surgery. The doctor arrived and said everything looked good. So he left to do some rounds. About 11:10 the nurse said to stop pushing because I was about to crown. She said we needed to wait for the doctor.
My sister, Linda, called Jason to check on the status. I took the call and was talking to her while we were waiting for the doctor. Finally, the doctor arrived and suited up and with 2 more pushes he was here. It was great. I cried. I still can't believe the delivery was that easy, and he's here. After all the hard work of getting pregnant, we finally have a little one of our own . We are so truly blessed.
